Update to previous post...or "ARGGHH!"

No one has even read the post I wrote earlier today, and I already have to amend it. I have been doing a little bit more research and now it looks like I may have to rethink Liberty. Basically, if I want to get certified in GA as a school counselor, I need to go to school in GA at a "recommended" school (pretty much UGA or GA State). These programs are designed for people like me who have never been teachers, but want to counsel in a school. The LU classes, on the other hand, assume that I already have the teaching experience meaning some of the program requirements are WAY above my head. Going to UGA or GSU means taking GRE's, writing application essays, being interviewed by the MEd faculty, etc. just to START classes. So I won't be doing that anytime soon. It also means taking a traditional schedule, not fitting in classes online whenever I can as previously planned, doing many hours of supervision in a school AFTER I finish classes, but BEFORE I can get certified (how can anyone's budget handle that?), and basically not working in a school anytime soon. The other option would be to get an MA in teaching and work in a school as a teacher while I work on my MEd. Or getting my MA in counseling, getting my professional counseling license (600 hours of supervision there), and then taking exams to get school certified. In case you're not following, let me put it simply: I can become a school counselor, it can be done, but I will have to commit to going to school for a long, long time. It's not going to be easy. And it may be a bigger commitment than I'm willing to make.

Hello, Square One.

so after finishing 4 years working towards a degree in education....i don't know what would come up in your classes that would be way over your head. especially because you are intelligent AND have experience working with children. really - it's not hard stuff. i can tutor you. here's the basic thing that education professors drill into your head, "there are no bad kids, only bad actions." i disagree, though - but you wouldn't know that from my papers! :)

I agree with Christy H. (I'm not saying "B" anymore. She got kinda annoyed when I said it at the wedding last week!) NOTHING IS OVER YOUR HEAD! Let's talk about it more next weekend but, bottom line is, YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU WANT TO DO IF YOU PUT YOUR MIND TO IT! I love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

Tara, if this is what you want you need to go for it now! TIME WILL NOT make it easier, in fact it will make it harder. If children happen to come first you may never do it. However, if you have it behind you, a job using it, children will not be a problem if you want to continue your career. Just my 2 cents worth.

Well, I have no sage words of wisdom like the previous commentators. so I will just say, that stinks!! Stupid colleges! Wht are they thinking? If they knew you, they'd know they could put you in a school right now and you'd be better than half their staff! You'll do great though, no matter what! Even if it takes a long time, you'll be awesome! God's in control! you may think his plan stinks right now, but don't worry, if you trust him, you'll look back on whatever happens and be thankful!I will be praying for you! I love you and miss you!!
